The Dweor
The furtive Dweor of Durram are an ancient race of small, subterranean humanoids who were largely unknown before emerging from their holes in 799 PW. The Dweor care little for beauty, for they live and breed underground where artistry would be wasted in the dark. They care even less for function, as their days are spent in deep meditation where engineered marvels would find little use. Instead, the Dweorgs exercise their minds through sleeping. They believe that through Dreaming they can expand their imaginations beyond normal reach, so that when they finally venture above ground the world will greet them as great thinkers and philosophers.
Dweor are ambitious, but only in their minds. It is rare indeed to meet a Dweor who enjoys the pleasures of the flesh, a life of travel, or the simplicity of hard labor. Such Dweor exist, however, on the fringes of the world. Those who take up arms or settle down are rarely seen with their own kind. Not exiled, but outcaste by their own volition.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Dweorgs are small and smooth like hairless moles or bloated maggots. Some hair sprouts in patches on their heads, but rarely anywhere else.
Genetics and Reproduction
A Dweorg is expected to foster, at most, one child in their lifetime. It is seen as a duty, not a pleasure.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dwarves mature at the same rate as humans, but they're considered young until they reach the age of 50. On average, they live about 350 years.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dweorgs need sustenance twice per week as they have evolved to survive on little resources.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
A Dweorg's eyes are strikingly large, for they must perceive what little light exists in their caves.
