It is the rank of the greatest figures of our nation, the members of The Council leading Lucem Edi.
Qualifications
For certain only the most humble, honorable and skillful Lucemi are chosen for this rank. There are no rules known how they are chosen. Also it doesn't seem like a specific field of expertise is chosen in particular, only some that are more typical as they are naturally helpful in the usual situation. Some being military, scientific or crafting experts for example.
Appointment
They're still chosen by The Council, but when they are told in private they may choose. Then they may put down their mask safe by their family and are required to go covered to the closed part of the City Hall of Lucem where they forge their new mask. This means a new life begins, a new name is chosen. The family knows, but they're ought to honor them in silence. If they held a leading rank they are allowed to send a single letter to their successor.
Duties
A Conrus decides in The Council the biggest topics of the nation. Everything of big enough significance for Lucem Edi can be made topic and a Conrus can be assigned to execute or direct the execution of the decision. Mainly they decide on disputes, on infrastructure and changes of system structure. In the past it also happened that a single Cronus was chosen to lead the nation, the rest being consultants.
Benefits
For a Lucemi being chosen as a Cronus usually is the biggest honor. It is regarded with despise when he fills his rank for his own benefit, but when they leave it's like a rebirth.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
When a Cronus is dismissed or leaves The Council they usually have a successor or their duty is done. The reasons are held secret like the ones for which they've been chosen. They lay down their Cronus mask, which is then hung up in the City Hall of Lucem and what happens after it nobody may know. Sometimes they seem to choose back their old life for certainity, sometimes they never are seen again. Maybe they may choose a new life.
History
Since the incident of Ormir Zeremi this rank has changed. It is not an openly given rank anymore, it isn't such a festive honour. You loose your mask for the time being and the new one is bound to the well habit of Lucem Edi.
