Second Moon Day

You awaken with a stretch and a yawn, your thin wings gently fluttering behind you. You turn your small body, slipping the silky flower petal off of your body. Today, you are a moonchild. It is your Second Moon day, making you 32 second moons old. Looking through the thin leafy windows you can tell that it is midmorning. Today, you finally get to spend your time doing whatever you want, until tonight. Tonight, you will see your family for the first time in quite a while. This will be fun.

History

This tradition originated in the Fortune Lands, and has for the most part stayed there. They created it when they noticed a cloud giant looking up to the moon, counting how many moons it has aged. They do this on the notion of the second moon. The second moon orbits the slowest of the three. When this was occurred, the inhabitants of the nearest flower city decided to take this on as well. They now count their ages in second moons. At first, they simply counted, but over time it evolved to include more and more festivities, until nowadays, when the second moon reaches the point you were born at, it is a party. Originally, they simply counted, but in the lack of things to celebrate, they made a new holiday. Now, ones second moon is their day. They typically can get a day off from their jobs, and invite many of their friends and family to feast. It is now a marvelous celebration.

Execution

On this day, you typically begin by sleeping in as late as you want. You do not have to work. Then, after most work is done, you bring your friends and family together and celebrate with a feast.

Components and tools

Typically moon themed decorations made from dyed flower petals are used. They are soft to the touch and usually white in color, though these can come in any color the person likes. Food is usually light and airy, and usually quite sweet.

Participants

Typically this celebration is attended by the moon child, their family, and their friends, but this can be different depending on the person. Some of the moon children dislike the celebrations and only count and stay home, and some rich folk have massive parties, inviting whole towns.

Observance

This is celebrated on the day when the second moon matches up with the way it was on the subjects birth. Since the second moon orbits much slower than the others, it is used to represent age in the fortune lands. For example, if you were born on the 27th day since new moon, that is your second moon day.
