Mordesent

Structure

Mordesent has a class system. At the head of which is the king, followed by its royal families, their lords, a warrior class called the Rowjin, guild members, merchants, and finally farmers/miners. This would be in the main kingdom, in the vassal states and territories even the lowest farmers from the main land are seen as superior in the eyes of the law.   Laws of Succession: Mordesent people of power are legally required to choose a specific heir from their children instead of just choosing the oldest. The Closst dynasty actually had their potentials locked in rooms to study for rulership and would take a test when the opportunity to seize power arose and who ever did the best would be the new king.

Culture

Mordesent still clings to its Vitran roots, every dynasty that came to power has come bearing news that they'll restore their former glory. They never do which angers some, especially among the upper class and the patriotic-minded. Regardless, expansion and the military are given significant focus in the budget. Lower members of society look to military service as a way of progressing into becoming Rowjin. In expanded areas, there is tension between the conquered and the Mordesent citizens. It's not a secret the two don't like each other. However, the late king Brekkan II was making attempts to bridge the gap before he died.   The Mordesent Kingdom has a long-held tradition of tombs carved into the valley of the dragons where their leaders are buried in sarcophagi crafted from the bones of great sea beasts, in the ancient days it was of something the king or queen killed themself but that is no longer the case.

History

200 years ago, it took over Tenthrast, an island to the far south after a war with Ankriech. During the civil war era of Saul (for more information: Collapse Reunification of Saul) they made several attempts to take control of the country.   The recent dynasty, the Crowfoot has been around for 100 years and has faced several civil wars and rebellions. They spent much of their early years establishing control of their capital city by presenting itself with a regal air.
