Valentina

Valentina (Proxima Centuri b) is a tidally-locked superearth in the Alpha Centauri system. It has a thin atmosphere, with one side is constantly bathed in light while the other is frozen. Around the terminal line, human colonies have developed into large settlements. It is the closest planet to Sol and serves as the government's largest source of energy and minerals. The planet's powerful magnetic field protects the planet from the violent flares of its parent star, which allows for the existence of life along the habitable terminator line. It is named after Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space.
The Valentina Republic is a reasonably major player within the United Nations of Sol. It is a major provider of energy and materials, and a prominent part of the Sol Central District.
