Rishaa Parbat Character in Lorannis | World Anvil

Rishaa Parbat

Rishaa Parbat's story starts as simple as a story can get. She grew up poor, under the care of her parents in the Amathyste district in the Port of Saphir . They grew up very religious, with a shrine to Maal in every room. Justice and walking the right path was taught to Rishaa at a young age, and she took that to heart, and walked this path laid by the gods with fervor.   She was 20 when she met Rah'Zai Parbat, a woman with a penchant for artifice. Rah'Zai and Rishaa grew quickly in love, and even with Rah'Zai's failed inventions barely paying the bills and Rishaa's worship taking much of her time, they managed to make ends meet. After a few years they adopted a young boy by the name of Tahl. For a while they were a quaint but happy family. But as all such stories go, disaster struck.     One fateful night, as the last ships had left the port for the night, the three were embarking home after working on stocking said ships for a meager fee. Halfway home they were accosted by a group of thugs, the altercation leaving both Rah'Zai and Tahl dead, and Rishaa badly wounded. As Rishaa lay there calling for help, none arrived, not from the guards, not from the gods. After years of devout service, they had left her to drown. If this was Maal's justice, she wanted no part of it. On that bloodied street she left her amulet of Maal.     Of course, the guards found nothing of the killers. And weeks went by with nothing to hold onto. It was in these times of desperation that Rishaa finally renounced the gods, and began her training. Roaming across the land she visited monastery after monastery, staying awhile to learn but ultimately decided each one was not for her. Her life had left a bad taste in her mouth when it came to gods, and the nameless one was no different. Year after year she practiced what they taught her however, both body and mind. For what she was striving for was extreme, and required one to be the perfect version of themselves. She wanted to fight back against the injustice that the world knew so well, so that what happened to her may never happen to anyone else. Hell, if the gods choose not to act, she certainly will. But to be a righteous avenger of that nature, it would take a divine being. So be it.
