Yinguo Species in Lingyichao | World Anvil

Yinguo

Yinguo, a subspecies of Ginkgo biloba, is found around the edges of the Forbidden Zone and locations close to it. Because of its proximity to the Forbidden Zone, yinguo can be quite difficult to harvest - not necessarily due to environmental factors, but because the closer one comes to the Forbidden Zone, the more Shenxian one risks encountering. As a result, it is primarily harvested by Cultivators who are trained in the gathering of wild plantlife.

Usages

Ginkgo has been used by humans for thousands of years as a prophylactic and for treating such age-related diseases as dementia, as well as asthma, bronchitis, bladder and kidney disorders.   However, after the appearance of The Great Rift, ginkgo trees in the area of about 1,000 li's radius of the Great Rift changed. Most became unusable by humans, toxic or otherwise extremely dangerous to ingest. Among those that didn't, however, was the yinguo subspecies.   Yinguo leaf extracts:
  • Can be used to enhance the mind - particularly in the areas of memory and speed of recollection.
  • Can help deal with various forms of dementia in the elderly.
Yinguo fruit - the silvery fruit the subspecies is named for:
  • Can assist Cultivators in circulating Qi, assisting in growing their golden cores and giving them more power.
  • Can assist the immune system in resisting infections.

I like that this one species has survived the toxins and is so useful that a trade has developed to harvest them.

Actually, the cultivators do a lot more than that, but a subsection of them would indeed concentrate on harvesting materials from the Forbidden Area.
