Forbidden Zone - Jindi

As seen in
The Forbidden Zone is an area around Moliliexia - The Rift, approximately circular, with a radius of about 600 li (see sidebar).   Signs of it first appeared in 30 LYC, even before the Shenxian first appeared, when things around The Great Rift began to become more and more dangerous - both plants and animals began to change in ways that no one was prepared for.   At first, the radius of the area affected was small... 20 li, when it was first noticed in 30 LYC. However, by 100 LYC, it was clear that the radius of effect was growing, if at a rather slow rate; the radius then measured at 25 li.   By 3,000 LYC, the radius had expanded to 580 li, and it was decided by the government of Zhongguo that a wall would be placed around it - at least, around the parts of it that approached territory belonging to Zhongguo - to a radius of 650 li. The Great Wall does have an entryway, passable only by cultivators, set in the remains of the city of Chengdu. The ability of the stronger cultivators to pass through that entryway is why it is known that the radius of the effects has now expanded to 600 li.   Within the Forbidden Zone, there are a large number of plant and animal species that have mutated to become much more dangerous versions of the ones less affected by the emanations of the Great Rift.
