The Missing Chapters

The lost songs of the Forgers.

The Missing Tellurian is not a part of the teachings of the Forgers and yet her story has persisted for hundreds of years. Almost every Joiner I interviewed believed it was true and the rest said it could be true. A message hidden in a song, I must admit that I understand why the tale has persisted for so long, even just having learned a little about it, I can feel its pull.

The Missing Tellurian

The Forgers of the Strewn Sky were formed during the end of the Time of Darkness and their book of songs was updated over the following three centuries. During the final great storm before the Floor one of the great singers was traveling with the first written copy of the songbook but never arrived at her destination.   The copies of the songbook were produced later from the memory of the followers of which a few had heard the missing singer's final performance. The inclusion of this song spawned rumors that the singer knew she would not arrive and provided hints on where to find the book with her songs. Over the decades and centuries that followed, this apparent ability to see the future gave the unnamed singer a revered status among the Forgers.   It is believed that the missing Tellurian had written additional songs in the original book, even the final song, which, when sung, would build from the sky islands the United Land and all the problems of the people would be a thing of the past.

The Code in the Song

To find the hidden location of the first songbook, everyone from Joiners to the Grand Forger have attempted to draw clues from the final performance that was transcribed. All of these people have scoured every writing related to the singer and her efforts in establishing the Forgers; almost all say it is a shame that her name was lost to time, the rest say she took her name with her and that her name itself holds power.   The words of the final song have been placed in every concievable order to produce any possible hint to the location of the missing book. Taking the first word of each phrase produces the text "When clouds come follow the paths unwalked." Many have delved deep into the forests, hills, and mountains in the region she is believed to come from when she disappeared. Most return, turning back before they become hurt, get lost, or perish. A few never return, they are either fools or they found something worth staying for.

The World Yet to Be

The Forgers of the Strewn Sky believe that the world is still in its infancy and has not yet reached maturity, that once they solve all of the problems of the people they will come together and sing. This united song would bring together all of the islands scattered on the sky and become the promised world free of suffering.

Song Leaders

It is the job of the Tellurians to perform at special events or to lead their local communities in song. The position is highly regarded and such individuals will be offered meals, lodging, and other goods after a performance. They are among the best singers on Breharan and may be sought after by performing ensembles to enhance their sound.
When we all join together in song,
Clouds will part where light belongs.
Come forth and walk with me,
Follow and be carefree.
The world will be born whole.
Paths we follow in our souls.
Unwalked places, no regrets.
