Quill of Baristius Madaloor

Implement of constitutions.

The room was full of people shouting at each other. People who only a cycle ago had agreed to the document that now lay in front of them. Baristius would not let this sleight prevent the establishment of the council as well as the nation and bring an end to serfdom. He took in as much air as he could, opened his beak, and got the attention of everyone in the room.   He would sign it in his own blood if he had to but he would sign it.
Origins

Turiil Fogawill - an opponent of the abolition clause of the Burm Constitution - knew that the agreement among most of the gathered members would not last if they had more time to debate. So at the crucial moment when they needed to sign the constitution the quill and ink were missing. With chaos erupting around him, Baristius Madaloor shrieked the loudest shriek he could muster. Then, when he had the attention of the room - the entire room - he plucked one of his own feathers for a quill and used his own blood as ink. Since then, the quill has been carefully guarded and preserved within the council chambers.

Properties

This light and dark brown feather is about 30 cm long and weighs almost nothing. The calamus is still stained with the blood of those who signed the Burm Constitution. It has been well preserved within a masterfully-crafted waterproof wooden case with a soft fabric interior.
