Ceslovas

Diety of Spirit Passage

God of Passage (a.k.a. The Raftsman)

Be sure to empty your pockets when you die. Belongings and money will weigh you down on the River of Reincarnation. Ceslovas can't take too many spirits onto his raft, and while it pains him to do so, he might have to leave you behind if you are too heavy.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The paddle of a boat, or an image of one, is the sign of Ceslovas.

Holidays

On the first day of each spring, there is a festival with the purpose of asking that Ceslovas swiftly ferry all who perished the previous year to reincarnation. The celebration includes lighting candles in pairs to represent the glowing eyes of Ceslovas. While the holiday came from this it is also just a celebration of the new year and a chance to eat, drink, and spend time with friends and loved ones.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Ceslovas takes the spirits of the dead aboard his raft and takes them to the end of the river where the water runs up to the sky and the spirits of the departed are dropped off to be returned to life.

Physical Description

Body Features

While depictions of Ceslovas vary with each artistic rendition, the core features are the same. A man with the body, legs, and arms of a human and the head of a tengu with eyes that glow like beams of light in any storm. Many depictions also include a set of large black-feather wings. And in some darker depictions, he is frail and hunched.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

He ferries the dead eternally searching for the spirit of his lover. He was told by Lagunavicius that his lover had died and if he would take care of the souls of the dead that he would find her eventually.
