Vitae

Goddess of Life Vitae

Vitae is the Goddess of Life and Teho's only daughter. Being the middle child of Teho, Vitae stood in an awkward place. She lacked the prestige of her older brothers who had been around for centuries and she lacked the competitive drive of her two younger brothers. Her lack of belonging among the other Five Gods of Creation is what drew her closer to her mother.   Her relationship with Teho is what motivated her to create life in Levan, life that could communicate with the Gods. To do this she created the soul. She gifted the soul to many living things throughout Levan, the Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Draconians, Bermo, and more were all given the ability to know themselves and the Gods. In this act Vitae created religion, allowing the various inhabitants of Levan to worship the Gods and pay homage to them. Her creation proved to be extremely popular among the other Gods and Goddesses as well, who now hoped to amass their own loyal followers to carry out their will. The act of worship would make a God or Goddess stronger, with the faith of their followers giving them more powers. This allowed many of the weaker Gods to gain massive amounts of power allowing them to rival some of the Five Gods of Creation in strength. As time went on the fight for worshipers began getting out of hand, some minor Gods would even resort to warfare in an attempt to forcefully gain more followers.   This period of time became known as the Years of Strife. During these centuries minor Gods and Goddess began amassing followers, carving out their own zones of influence in Levan where they could draw upon worshippers. They would then take these followers and rally them to war against a rival God with the goal of gaining their followers. Many Gods and Goddesses died during this time, as many of them would join their followers in battle, forcing them to take a mortal form. These wars continued to spiral out of control, eventually leading to the Years of Blood.   During the Years of Strife and the beginning of the Years of Blood Vitae attempted to serve as a peacekeeper. She tried to stop the conflicts where ever possible since she despised violence. But as the Years of Blood continued on Vitae saw herself get drawn into supporting the Aethoral, as they represent stability and the status quo, compared to the more destructive and aggressive Nekonor. Vitae never served on the front lines of the war, at this point she was significantly weaker than most other Gods who had amassed thousands of worshipers. Vitae instead decided to serve behind the lines as diplomat and doctor. She would persuade non-aligned Gods to join the Aethoral and heal those who had been wounded in battle. After Aevum's poisoning, Vitae focused all of her efforts on healing her older brother, spending the rest of the war by his bedside doing her best to wake him from his coma.   Vitae continues her attempts to heal her brother to this day, making her the eldest God remaining in the Aether. She is well respected by all the Gods who often come to her for help and counsel, although she has no official leadership role.
