Pelatoria

Pelatoria, or "Home Land" in the language of Old Thurnetorre, is the most populated and well explored continent in Leitoria. It was the birthplace of the human race and is now the location of many of their civilizations.

Ain

Ain is the northernmost subcontinent in Pelatoria. The majority of the region is much less densely populated than Pela, but it is still home to about a fourth of the continent's entire population.

The Northern Mountains

The Northern Mountains stretch along the northern coast of Pelatoria and are known as a harsh rocky landscape where only the toughest can survive. Even though the rest of Ain is relatively temperate, the high elevation keeps the mountain range covered in snow year round.

The Plaguelands

The western coast of Ain was once the home of great kingdom of Xetor, but the kingdom fell into ruin after the outbreak of the sapbloom plague. It is now a deadly region filled with infected creatures where few are foolish enough to enter.

The plague is caused by the parasitic spores of the sapbloom mold, an orange sweet-scented fungus unique to western Ain. Any creatures who enter the Plaguelands will be infected with the spores, causing the host to develop bright orange fungal growths that spread more of the spores. The growing mold also infects its host's brain, causing them to instinctively protect their paraste and violently attack anyone nearby. The mold does not survive well in the environment further east, which has contained the plague to a limited area. In the Plaguelands however, the sickness continues to infect animals and people as long as the mold thrives.

The Spiderglade Mountains

Unlike the Northern Mountains, the Spiderglade mountains are verdant spires covered in plant life. Scattered villages have been built along the meandering mountain paths. Traveling through the Spiderglades is a beautiful and serene but not especially fast journey.

The towering hills were named after the Spider Clan: seven legendary demons who are rumored to have ruled the mountains for thousands of years. Regardless of whether the mythological clan is real, both bandits and lesser demons are known to live in the mountains, and mercenaries can often make a comfortable living as guides and bodyguards for travelers.

Ainan Wilderness

Surrounding the Spiderglades is the wilderness that covers most of Ain. Small towns are secluded in the forests, but for the most part Ain is a sparsely populated region.

The forests of Ain are known for being abundant in unique animal and plant life. The people of Ain have made substantial advancements in medicine using local plants. Colorful birds, insects, and flowers fill the region, and many say that springtime in the Ainan wilderness is one of the most beautiful sights in nature.

Pela

Pela is the central subcontinent in Pelatoria and is the most densely populated of the three.

The Thurnetorrian Highlands

The Thurnetorrian highlands are flat moors where sheep and wild horses graze. A person could walk for miles across the open grassy plains without encountering a single tree.

The Titanwood Forest

The Titanwood Forest is filled with the tallest trees in the world, with most stretching to 250 feet tall and 15 feet in diameter. The wood is highly sought after as a luxury building material, and legends say that the forest was first planted by ancient long-forgotten gods.

The Ironridge Mountains

The Ironridge mountains hold rich deposits of iron and precious metals. The resources of the region have been an instrumental factor in Freyisdel's industrial achievements.

The Great Pelian Mountains

The Great Pelian Mountain range contains some of the tallest peaks on the continent, rivaled only by a few in the Northern Mountains. It is considered the division line between western Pela and eastern Pela.

Central Marrithian Grasslands

The Central Marrithian Grasslands are vast open plains of tall orange grass and sparse twisted trees. A few small Marrithian towns dot the landscape, but for the most part the grasslands are only roamed by wild animals.

The Scarlet Jungle

The Scarlet Jungle is a thick forest with an abundance of native fruits and nuts. It is named for the rust palms that commonly grow in the forest. These small trees have dark red palm fronds that stand out among the green foliage of the rest of the jungle.

Kaishen

Kaishen is the southernmost subcontinent in Pelatoria. Very few people live in this region, and those that do reside along the southwestern coast.

Kohli's Labyrinth

Kohli's Labyrinth is a vibrant and humid ecosystem that spreads across the division between Kaishen and Pela. The Kohli Road is the only maintained path through the dense jungle. Travelers can pay soldiers from the nearby Jirithkaen military outposts to guard them along the road, but disease or attack from wild animals is always a risk when traveling overland.

The Southern Divide

The Southern Divide is a mountain range that separates the nation of Iri'tal from the northern Pelatorian nations. Any land transports between Iri'tal and other countries must pass through these mountains. It is said that the Southern Divide was the first hurdle the first humans had to face when they spread out from their desert homeland.

The Kaishen Desert

The majority of the subcontinent is covered in the vast Kaishen Desert. This harsh expanse of orange rock and dust hides several ancient cities that have sunken below the sand and have still only partially been excavated.

The Malia River

Those who make it through the desert will find the Malia River flowing along the southwest edge of the region. This river was named after an ancient goddess of water and the sun, and today it is the heart and lifeblood of the Iri'tali nation. The Iri'tali have lived along the river for thousands of years, and it is said that all of human civilization was born along its banks.
