Minans aka Minotaurs

The species of inhabitants of Minos Prime. They do appear as minotaurs of mythology and have a fondness for riddles and puzzles. They are nomadic with numerous tribes.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Physically imposing bipedal humanoids which appear as the Minotaurs of Home legend.

Ecology and Habitats

Minotaurs are remarkably adaptable creatures able to survive a wide range of habitats. Well adapted to the mildly corrosive atmosphere of Minos Prime, Minos can adapt to human normal atmospheres with relative ease. They are well suited to the dimmer subterranean habitats, though have no trouble adjusting to relatively bright light. They prefer cooler climates but are very capable of operating in heat levels which humans find rather uncomfortable.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Minotaurs prefer meat, but are quite capable of sufficing off of my herbaceous substances for extended time periods. The consume significant amounts of water.

Behaviour

Cryptic. Especially fond of layered conversation and puzzles of any sort.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Minan Families are composed of 2 to 12 Minans living together. The extended social structure of the Minans is relatively flat composed of Minan Tribes which have from 50 to 250 individuals which make up a Tribe. Tribes are the lowest level of "extended government" that the Minans have amongst each other, and each member of the Tribe is fiercely loyal to the Voice of the Tribe, typically one of its Elders. 7 or more Tribes make up a Clan, though as many as 50 have been recorded for some Tribes.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Minans seem to be adapted well to low light settings. Where it was once believed that some of them could be telepathic, it has been confirmed that a significant number of them are. The Federacy still cannot account for their ability to remain unnoticed except for their alien-ness.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

For a non-technologically advance that is so significantly dispersed, the Minans have a significantly unified language, another clue supporting their transplant from another world. Sense it became generally known that a signfiicant portion of the race are telepathic, this now makes more sense.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Minos Prime is home to numerous Precursor sites which the Minans consider their cultural heritage even though they don't understand how to operate any of the sites or artifacts present - at least it's assumed they don't. It is know that some Minans see the sites as "sacred" and simply don't bother them for that reason alone.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Minans are not happy with the Federati as their actions amounted to stealing before the Minans truly understood what was happening. Once they did, the Minans quickly "linked arms" and restricted all off-worlders to Dometown Delta while making demands which essentially amounted to reparations for what had been removed.   Most relations are carried out by the Horns of Taurus, though they do not speak for all Minans.
