Beautiful
Most populous world and capital seat of the Fringeworthy system. Beautiful is home to 12 million inhabitants and is rapidly growing. As one of two Class A Worlds in the system (significantly more attractive than it's sister,
Darling though she's really not that bad looking), and is the source of much intrigue. The reason why every Houses and Guild has taken such an interest in the system and The Fringes is because of the astrography and the very real possibility of recoverable knowledge and artifacts. It's also (arguably) the most beautiful natural world the Federacy has settled.
Beautiful, in terms of culture and attitude, is a wild-west-ish kind of area that might remind one of Texas. Physically, it reminds one of places in the tropics; it's also home to beautiful, strange, almost hypnotic critters. There are five major settlements on Beautiful.
Major Settlements
E'reakar
At 5.5 million, E'reaker (pronounced Eureka by locals) is easily one of the most populated areas in this part of space. Named after the system's discoverer, E'reakar it remained the city of eminence on Beautiful, though Library may outgrow it at its current pace, since other Wins (Worlds of INterest) were found outward of Fringeworthy. It is the industrial capital of the area, with an elevator to Beautiful's high-port.Library
The city of Library grew up around the ambitious University (which composes 60% of the city's populace) and at a population of 2.3 million, it's touted as the greatest repository of accumulated knowledge outside of The Majestic Great Library at New Home.Noth
At 1.2 million, the third largest settlement is Noth, administrative center of an island chain that's home to the very wealthy on Beautiful. It's also the unofficial government seat of Beautiful: more "off books" decisions are made at Noth than at the capital, E'reaker. Rated "Most Scenic Place in the Federacy," there are few who believe that this isn't true. The islands of Noth float approximately one mile in the air, and no one knows why (there are numerous theories; this is also the reason why it's not the official government seat). There are a couple of small institutes that are bygones of attempts to find out why they float, but they are largely forgotten.Frainan
Frainan is an architectural marvel, home to 700 thousand people built into the sides of the Adota Mountains. If hills, valleys, and lakes are your thing, then pristine Frainan air is just the place. It's also home to the Xav Contingent, possibly one of the fiercest fighting forces in the Federacy.Daevea
By far from being the smallest of the settlements, Daevea is home to 200 thousand inhabitants and is known for for it's slightly exotic views and its seafood. It's also the coldest, being the farthest south.Natural Resources
Strange, Beautiful Critters
Beautiful is, well, beautiful... and deadly. Very deadly to the unaware. Though most of the fauna is smaller than terrestrial pet sized, a lot of it is very beautiful to look at, more so than would be expected. A lot of the predators are known to lure beings with active thoughts, broadcasting on a mentonic wavelength which is actively hypnotic. If that's not bad enough, some will lull you to sleep... and eat your face. There are some basic defenses that are useful, but portable electric sub-hummers (subsonic animal repellent noise generators) typically keep them away.
