Nik is a yaksha with nature-based powers. He can manipulate plants and the earth. As a hobby, he enjoys growing new varieties of plants in the greenhouse of Waterside House.

Personal history
Until he was twelve, Nik lived with his mom’s side of the family, who were all yakshas. His maternal side of the family were part of the Indian diaspora living in London, England.
According to Nik, his father was a 'rich toff who had a fling with an Indian girl when he was in uni'. Neither of them expected their affair to result in a child. Since Grenville Wykeham refused to acknowledge Nik as his son, Nikhil's mother brought him up as a single mother. He took his mother's last name, Patel.
His mother died of cancer when he was ten, and as a result, Nik is very close with his maternal grandmother, or Nani. At Legend Valley, he misses the Gujurati snacks and desserts that his Nani would make.
When Nikhil was twelve, Grenville Wykeham had an accident and was told that he’d never be able to father children again. Because of this, he decided to acknowledge Nik as his heir and adopt him.
“To cut a long story short, when my father found out that Mum’s family were yakshas, suddenly I was doubly valuable. Thought he’d mold me into the perfect little heir-slash-weapon.” He chuckled. “Too bad for him, after the way he’d treated my mum, I didn’t want anything to do with him. When Dad suddenly turned up on my doorstep two years later, I wanted to kick him out, but my grandmother told me I should be as mercenary as he is.” Nik shrugged. “So, in here,” he tapped his heart, “I’m still Nikhil Patel, Gujju lad from the mean streets of London.
