Vhou Provides Reparations to Dark Elves, Creates Edict of Silse

Cultural event

1183

The long overdue reparations given to the Dark Elves by Vhou Riyael. Along with these reparations, Vhou would create the Edict of Silse, the first official document amongst the elves that stated the rights guaranteed to every citizen of Nim. Further, it would discuss the rights guaranteed to outsiders that lacked formal citizenship.

Following the slow growth of the Ourithanur Collective, government officials would begin to take notice of foreigners to the kingdom seeking refuge and work within its borders. Particularly among these individuals was dark elves. While no official experiementation upon them had been documented yet, the progaganda displayed within its villages brought enough concern to initiate their exodus. Feeling sympathy for their plight, Vhou Riyael decided to take action, ensuring that no others would feel forced to leave their homes, so long as they lived within his borders.   The controversy regarding dark elves would eventually breach the borders of the great river kingdom, but authorities had zero tolerance for discrimination following the publication of the edict. While tensions would eventually settle, many criticize the nation's initial approach toward upholding the edict to be hypocritical, stating that it simply prioritized some citizens over others. Regardless, the edict (now having undergone many iterations) would stand the test of time and remains ahead of its time, as of Namiddag.
