Ourithanur Collective

The Ultimate Question

The Ourithanur Collective is an organization dedicated to researching the most important questions in the universe (at least in the opinion of the elves those questions are regarding the effects and powers behind the Ourithanur, an event regarding Melifi's corruption of the universe. While the motives of this group has changed several times, they have always wished to uncover the impact that this corruption has on elves, dark elves, and non elves. Their overall goal has been to control this corruption in hopes of turning the world into a utopia.

Formation and Corruption

The Ourithanur Collective formed as a group of religious extremists that used deception to appear benevolent among the populations that they researched. Generally, the group would attempt to find dark elf "volunteers" by approaching with smiles and promise of reward. Unfortunately for those that agreed, the experiments would usually result in death, leaving the cult to relocated to any other settlement nearby. It took decades for the organization to be uncovered and stopped. It was sometime after their discovery and disbandment by political forces within Nim that they would attempt to begin their research once again, under the guise of a formal and state funded research party. The researchers, most of whom were members of the original members under false identities, would find their subjects outside of Nim's territory, trekking as far as the southern elvish kingdom in order to kidnap and experiment on more dark elves.   The new and "official" organization would be funded and provided with their own research station upon the northern end of Silse's central mountain range. This was practically a fortress provided with certain rights to privacy from the authorities of Nim. This freedom from prying eyes was eventually a point of regret by Vhou Riyael, who would attempt to uncover their misdeeds after gaining suspicion from both old and new members, many of whom he had considered personal friends. When their misdeeds were uncovered, they were dismantled once more and the information that they had uncovered was provided exclusively to the prying eyes of Vhou.

After the Assimilation by Nim

After the organization was assimilated by the government of Nim, the activities of the group became highly controlled and public. Any unethical tests, such as surgeries on live subjects, were formally banned. While the information uncovered is not common knowledge to those outside of the Nim, one can only wonder what information about the cosmos has been uncovered by the organization since its assimilation by the government.
Malevolent Discovery
The goal of research into the Ourithanur is to uncover the most obscure mysteries of the universe. Given that the corruption happened soon after the origination of the universe, as caused by Saaurithale, unveiling any markers regarding the corruption could allow the researcher to unravel the mysteries of the universe. While the impact of this research is all theoretical, philosophers have theorized that one may be able to learn about the universe's history or gain the ability to manipulate facets of reality. At present, no one knows for sure how detailed the organization's discoveries are. To make matters worse, local legends state that some of its original members escaped with secrets about the nature of reality in their pockets. Many don't trust the research uncovered by Nim either, believing that the government would take actions to ensure their own authority over their nation (or perhaps the world).
