The siege of Caripreet by an Eldurgrund battalion.

After a long expedition through the Nadlewood Strip, large portions of which were burned down, the Euvurcrest 1st battalion managed to reach Caripreet. Upon seeing the city for the first time, the battalion quickly altered their plans of a swift attack into a siege, as the Lieutenant believed it would lower the mortality in his ranks.   The obvious first goal was to take the shore and docks around the high-risen keep. This step alone was risky, as it brought them to the low-ground where the defenders could rain arrows, quicklime, or ballista shots. After three weeks, the attackers were finally successful, ensuring to keep plenty of civilians and three political prisoners in their vulnerable camps as insurance. This attack ensured that both Caripreet and the distant Jerborg were cut off from food.   After spies managed to release two of the political prisoners, the soldiers made good on their military bargain with the gnomes they met in the Nadlewood Strip. Their new plan involved burrowing beneath the walls to allow soldiers to attack from within the city. The extensive burrowing extended through most of the siege, but ultimately proved successful. With the Eldur Knights at the forefront, the battalion was able to capture the city, enveloping the most problematic districts in a boiling inferno. The council surrendered the city before the 200 soldiers at Jerborg had any chance to assist their homeland.   The council, recognizing the power of their oppressors, turned over their land and titles. Caripreet and its territory were immediately turned over to Eldurgrund and a new council was appointed (entirely consisting of wealthy lords that had been involved in subterfuge against Caripreet, aside from 1 gnome). In exchange for their compliance, the baron was executed, but the old council was allowed to live out their days in exile. From this day until the end of the the war against Shellbay, Eldurgrund and Caripreet would only know 1 baron, and he resided in Euvurcrest.   The dismissal of the baron in Caripreet unwittingly launched the city into its modern state. It still has no baron, being ruled as an oligarchy.
