The Fester Treachery, Dark Elves Occupy Morie You

The horrific tragedy and mass killing within the major urban and rural centers of Bourilia, forcing several royals to flee and hide within Fort Haerehel throughout a siege.

The southern elves, after having marched on Mulatar, reserved their days for self-defense following the disillusionment of such a defeat. The wrath of gods had truly struck them, but the tragedies set upon the people were hardly over. As national pride fell and the military grew distrustful of their leader, who failed to maintain legislation and control over the realm (as many during the era did), the effort of those 'loyal' to the throne waned to near extinction. It was during this time of ironic disposition that the dark elves, under the order of Fíkn Catar, that the corruption of the population began.   For an unknown amount of time, the dark elves would infiltrate the population and its most essential resources. Ration reserves, roles of servitude, farming steads, and many more. How these individuals went unrecognized is scarcely recorded, but it is believed that they may have used makeup or veils. Upon infiltrating, they would begin tampering with society through the use of a now illegal substance known as "Esourays." This substance was highly addictive and miscible in water. It could be spread upon or cooked in food, fed to livestock, and given to those with important positions within the government.   While the substance's effects are not entirely known, as it is presumed to be a substance of lost divine origin, it may have been a pleasant psychedelic. It is written that those who consumed it were rendered incapable of fulfilling their station for hours. While health warnings were widespread following increased reports, the cult of the Ithitar would attack when its usage had peaked and consumption of reserves had begun.   Assassins would unveil themselves in a widespread slaughter as their kin in the mountains descended upon Morie You. Access to the river was controlled by the dark elves and the city was swept in despair in mere days. Surrender was unavoidable, as most of those in high stations were forced to either go hungry or eat and render themselves incapable of serving. With enemies both inside and outside the walls, the Marquis of Hyaneman, a small district reserved for the lower class, would surrender the city. It was unfortunately left to a man of such low station due to the incapability of his peers to make an educated decision in their altered states.   During this military occupation, the royal family was searched for adamantly. Learning of their likely upcoming execution from a chambermaid and dark elf turncoat, the royals would have their faces painted a light grey in hopes that they could walk outside of the city and flee Morie You. Due to experiencing intense hallucinogenic visons, the Haerehel king would be caught and executed, immediately having volunteered his personal information to interrogators at the gates. the three children managed to escape by themselves, making it to Fort Haerehel to tell their tale.
