The death of Emperor Avernus "Köttur" Sandhar during an earthquake that toppled his throne room.

The death of Köttur would change the course of history, as it advanced plans to overthrow the Saltkrigere and instate an impartial empire, now known as the Augury. The man's career lacked influence, unless it was carried out by those beneath him, but his lack of action served the court perfectly, as they needed a leader that would ignore their under-the-table transactions with Eldurgrund and Fjordstrond.   His death started a "quiet revolution" that grew into a 6 year war with Shellbay, which saw the establishment in the coastal barony undermined and replaced, while few of those in power escaped to the Snow Rock Isles to pursue lives of either retirement or plans of return that were never seen through.   While the Saltkrigere empire stood strong, their ideas of supremacy and a single nation would always hinder their success, making Emperor Sandhar a sufficient last hoorah to their restrained vision for the world.
