The winters as a result of Verivem's Comet reaching the nearest countries to Trinen.

When the winters of Verivem's Comet reached Tsaoin, Ghei Wyl faired poorly, reducing their population as much as 90% from the death that followed the sudden shift. Nim responded better, being able to unite their people and save the citizens that needed refuge from the city of Mailes. The temporary opening of their borders would be the first step towards uniting all of Tsaoin under the River Kingdom of Nim, which would be a first in centuries, though Ghei Wyl would continue their devotion to their gods and stay put, never joining Nim and it's protective forces.   Kala would close their borders as well, trying to maintain trade with Poueir but ultimately deciding they didn't have enough resources to exchange and maintain their own city. Roja reached a pinnacle of success during this period, already thriving near an intermittently active volcano. The fish on their coasts were hardy and they were able to continue collecting their copper, steel, tin, and iron without slowing. Eventually, they would extend a hand to Kala, which would eventually lead to the modern downfall of Roja. Brille, with its great walls and dabbling with isolation would presumably thrive during this period, but few sources have escaped their walls since Ettermiddag began.   Mot D'nir would undergo a crisis that would mostly see the Kaban slave population suffer from. The Quai provided ample safety for the Naga-Tel and the other reptilian races retreated to their habits of prehuman contact, easily surviving in the already treacherous marsh.
