Tharu Imar

Admiral (a.k.a. the Charred)

Admiral Tharu Imar was the leader of a Rojan revolution after the ban on J'barri fire magic and spellsmithed weapons. Fearing for their careers, the Rojan Spellsmiths gathered in order to determine the best course of action for their future. Tensions were high during the meeting as Tharu Imar said his piece. Believing that fire magic was a blessing upon the J'barri people, he proposed that they take whatever artifacts they could carry. He devised a plan to break into the buildings containing the contraband in the night and sneaking away with a fleet of both owned and stolen ships.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Originally motivated to honor and serve the great Can En as a Rojan Spellsmith, Imar would eventually change his motivations to support his own Ocean Pride. As its founder, he felt responsible for the well being of all aboard his ships. As the years went on, he took interest in the humans of Eldurgrund, as they developed substantial water traversing capabilities.   Imar would order his fleet to engage with any traders or pirates that crossed the Caripreet Sea, seeking to capsize any outsiders that sought power through weapons of J'barri fire magic. Perhaps unknown to the nations of Renad, Imar was their greatest defender, ensuring that Kala and Roja were safe without having to expend a single copper on defenses.

Tharu Imar's Revolution Speech:

"Here we stand and wait at the precipice of our culture's end. All able bodied and caring for our past, yet we stand and speak to avoid action. We are the bastions of or people's power, the source of their dominance. Let us take what we crafted for them. Let us take what is ours from those who would see our culture drowned in the salted waters abroad. Let me stand in the lead of our revolution and bear its consequences. Let us build a Pride that stands a monument to our past."

Revering a Criminal

Those from the cities of Roja and Kala view Imar as a lowly criminal with a lust for power. The freefolk outside of the cities tend to have a different opinion, viewing him as a revolutionary hero that wished to preserve the J'barri way of life from both inside and outside threats. Tales and songs paint him as the last bastion of defense for the J'barri way of life in the face of human theft and piracy.

A J'barri of Innovation

While he was a criminal in his time, his control over a fleet of fire mages made him a force to be reckoned with. No only could he defend his ships from outside threats with storms of blazing whirlwinds, but he came to understand feats of engineering that have yet to be replicated. With his intellect and teams of Rojan Spellsmiths, he was able to devise a way to build metal ships that could resist the heat of their powers. With each ship being 3 times the size of your typical Eldurgrund brigantine, the fleet was a force to be reckoned with. Without Imar, many believe that none of this would be possible.

Inspirational, Above All

Imar was a well known member of his community before the revolution. His social roots grew deep enough to begin a correspondence with Can En. This not only made it easy to inspire and gather supporters, but also meant that rifts were grown in many friendships. Can En later wrote that he viewed the revolution as one of the greatest personal betrayals he had suffered. However, knowing Imar's spirit and dedication, he never fully blamed the man for wishing to leave the city and its rules. Those that followed Imar would gladly lay their lives down for him, This was scarcely necessary, thanks to their incredible power, but regardless of his prirate status, this dedication granted Imar the title "Safest J'barri in the world."
