Galley Trodder
8 legged bugs with a characteristically oar-like walking pattern, moving the inner 4, then the outer 4. Their forelegs have slightly increased surface area, allowing them to swim as well, though only for about 5 minutes.
Many believe their name to represent their tendency to crawl on boats, but this is a species mixup. Galley trodders are named such due to their walking style and their tendency to "ram" prey. Due to their odd walking style, they appear as if they are thrusting when they begin moving.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Their bodies are split into 3 segments. The head, which has 2 mandibles and a rounded shape. The center is body with rounded edges. The back is flat and angular, and it points towards the ground at a -30 degree angle. They are black with light brown patterns on the back segment which nearly resemble human faces in their coloration. Average galley trodders are 1-2cm in size.
Behaviour
Galley trodders are nomadic, never making permanent nests. They seem to have some degree of hierarchy, as they line their nomadic lines from largest to smallest. Their lines travel in anywhere from 3 trodders wide to 10. Legends say that galley trodders eat anything in their immediate paths, from plants, to bugs, and even houses. Trodders tend to kill and consume nests of bugs, moderately sized animals, or other biomatter before making temporary nests. From these nests, they rapidly breed before different groups of trodders arise, all taking off in different directions
