D'niri Trodders Species in Laminarum | World Anvil

D'niri Trodders

D'niri trodders have much the same design as their cousins, though they have slowly shifted to a dark green color, and have lost the face-like design on their lower back. Though this species became prevalent after the Quai-Trodder symbiosis, they currently receive no obvious benefits from the divine entity. It is possible that the trodders intentionally sought out a new symbiosis, or were guided to it by the Quai. Regardless, their time with the Quai appears to have fundamentally changed to behavior of these relocated trodders.   Like their cousins, the galley trodders, these bugs have eight legs and have oar shaped legs. They are an invasive species (with their ancestors originating from the Snow-Rock Isles and later being transported to Trinen) and cause immense property damage wherever they travel. Luckily, they do not dwell far from their nests, as they have become accustomed to their boosted pheromone signaling when near Mycoren Krae. Their symbiosis has become so intense that the trodders become confused after being separate from their nest for too long.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

D'niri Trodders inhabit middle and southern Mot D'nir. They were most likely transported here by excessive flooding across the Trinen-D'nir border.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They have symbiotic relationships with Mycoren Krae, a fungus found across most of Mot D'nir. Unlike Trinen Galley Trodders, their D'niri cousins make permanent nests. These nests are made within Mycoren Krae "husks," which assist in pheromone signaling.
