When Cruithne Cruithson seized the threads of destiny and changed the course of history.

Since the first mortals settled in the isles of Laeonesse, there were those who dwelt in the Dreughold, guests of the Stone-Fae. As more and more settled into the mountain valley, the Stone-Fae learned of their ability to enthrall the mortals through the glamour. Seeing that as being far more beneficial, they began to enchant their mortal subjects as slaves and pets, with no capacity to think beyond what they were ordered. Their minds were permanently entranced by the Fae around them with a desire to please.   This all changed when Cruithne Cruithson reached the cusp of manhood. One of the earliest known members of the Elfen, Cruithne stumbled upon his ability to manipulate the Awen on accident and sought to master its power, learning through trial and era, of the impact that iron had on emphasizing his, and others with mortal blood, ability to manipulate the Awen, as well as hindering the Fae in theirs.   After several years, he believed he had mastered the arts of grammarie and glamour, as he understood them, and began to dream bigger. Gathering those he could, he disenchanted all that he could manage, and together, they learned what they could of ironwork and of the Awen, for those that could wield it. When they were ready, on the night of midsummer, when the power of the Stone-Fae was at its weakest, he led a rebellion within the Dreughold. Armed with simple iron weapons and their grammarie, they drove out and slaughtered the unsuspecting Stone-Fae, who fled to the kingdoms of neighboring Fae-Lords.   After consultation, it was decided amongst the Fae-Lords that this rebellion could not be allowed to survive, for it would forever tilt the balance of power in the mortal favor. So, some weeks afterward, they mustered their armies to assault and reclaim the Dreughold. However, Cruithne was ready for them. He had gathered all of the mortals and fellow Elfen that he could find, training them in iron and Awen.   When the Fae host arrived, it found the walls of the Dreughold guarded by countless warriors armed with the first iron armor, iron weapons, and most devastatingly, iron-headed arrows. Wave after wave of Fae assaulted the Dreughold, but their weapons broke upon the mortals iron armor and theirs could not protect against the iron arrowheads. Glamour could do nothing against those warded by iron charms across their eyes and no Fae could even tolerate the touch of iron.   Within days, the siege had ended, with the Fae forced to capitulate after Cruithne led a daring midnight raid and seized the King of the Stone-Fae, forcing him to acknowledge their freedom, cede their land, and collect oaths from all the mighty Fae-Lords of old that humans would never again be forced into thralldom within the mortal world.
