The Kalliope of Fegus Jingleboots

The Kalliope of Fegus Jingleboots is a horse-drawn musical wagon that travels the streets of Quara to the delight of the children of the capital.   For the past seven years, the Kalliope has been driven through the streets of Quara playing loud music and entertaining those that stop to watch a performance. The Kalliope consists of a steam powered organ, as well as drums, tambourines, trumpets, trombones, flutes, and other horns. The drums and tambourines are activated by steam-piston hammers and the whole contraption is played with a keyboard directly behind the driver's seat on the wagon. Fegus wears bells on his shoes that add to the cacophony of sound that his machine generates.   The horses, "Taffy" and "Chocolate" know the regular routes that Fegus drives, so once they are started on the route, Fegus turns around in his seat and plays as the Kalliope slowly works its way through the city. After playing for an hour or so, the show is closed with a steam powered explosion of ribbons and confetti, and a small number of hard candies blowing out or two large funnels over the crowd. Children scramble to gather the candies as they land and bounce and roll across the cobblestoned streets and plazas. After the show, Fegus is often given a few coins from the crowd, but he also makes money by advertising in between songs. As he takes a break between each song, he will ask the listeners to visit his patrons, or his workshop. Once the show is over, Fegus drives back to his workshop playing more music as he goes, but without the grand finale.

Power Generation

The Kalliope is powered by a steam mephit that is hidden inside the Kalliope. The mephit's name is Ssshii, and he is the partner of Fegus. In exchange for his work on the Kalliope, Fegus provides Ssshii with a safe location to live in at his workshop.

Propulsion

The Kalliope is drawn by 2 draft horses. The Tan horse is named "Taffy", and the brown horse is "Chocolate".
