Adventurers: Rankuhm; Tellem Eglin Gaertheen, Stor
22nd day of Palitide, 12th Year of the Reign of Empress Sorsasta, 5728
After deciding that a direct confrontation with the Succubus Saints might result in legal consequences without solid evidence to support the heroes, the party decided to do some more investigation. Rankuhm sent the afternoon talking to various shop owners to determine how widespread the Succubus Saints criminal enterprise stretched, and to discern if there was a pattern to their operation. After talking with several shop owners, he discovered that the Succubus Saints either collect on the last day of the month, for those who have chosen the monthly plan, or on the last day of the tenday, for those shopkeepers who preferred that schedule of payments. Rankuhm then decided to speak with Kelirsa Griff about matters, but she was very busy with the dinner crowd at The Griffin, and asked him to come back the next day before the dinner rush. Rankuhm took personal umbrage at the dismissal, and went to seek out the other party members at the Emerald Star. Stor spoke to some of his old buddies in the Watch, and found out that while they have heard of the Succubus Saints, they had very little information on them. Tellum hoping to gather information about the comings and goings of the Succubus Saints into and out of the Pig & Pie Tavern, hired a few street urchins to keep an eye on the place, in exchange for a few meat pies / empanadas. They were to report anything to him at the Emerald Star. While waiting there, Tellum listened in on conversations between the farmers that frequented the inn, and overheard two of the farmers talking about another farmer, Larus Rysus who when very drunk, mentioned that he had been tormented by a female demon. Later that evening, Tellum was told by the serving girl, Futhala, where to find Larus. After the party reassembled at the Emerald Star, they noticed Ilic Basi enter and go into the kitchen with the bartender. Rankuhm, snuck around to the back door of the kitchen and was able to overhear part of a conversation between them. Ilic thanked the bartender for his support and promised things were going to change once he was elected. Rankuhm saw Ilic hand over a small pouch, to the barkeep. I little while later, Ilic was seen in the common room talking to a lot of the people and working the crowd to gain their support. After resting for the night, the party regrouped and after rearming themselves, left the protection of the walls to head to the farm of Larus Rysus. Along the way they were stopped by Jarkla Juniperberry who came running out of her farmhouse to beg for help. Her husband, Jorge Juniperberry, was trapped in the basement when the basement floor collapsed while he was digging a root cellar. After inspecting the scene, Stor set up a rope to haul the injured farmer up, while Tellum and Rankuhm went in to rescue the farmer. While down in the sub-basement, they discovered a tunnel leading off into the darkness. As they were tending Jorge, and collapsing the rest of the floor to prevent further injury, a swarm of rats attacked them. Quickly defeating the rats, the heroes were able to get Jorge back upstairs and into his bed. They then decided to investigate the tunnel. As they made their way back through the tunnel, the came a cross a large chamber that had a pool of water in the middle of it. While looking at some human sleeping area that they found, three giant rats attacked them. After defeating the rats, Stor heard a splash in the pool, but did not see anything in the darkness. The heroes continued searching and found a cache of food and drink, and a locked chest. Breaking open the chest, they discovered a bronze urn, about 20 inches high, with snake like handles, and a multi armed woman figurine on the top of it. After unsuccessfully trying to open it, Tellum handed it over to Rankuhm who discovered that the lid can be opened by unscrewing it. They decided not to open it at that time, but they could hear something clunking around inside of it whenever they moved it, and the weight of it shifting as it did. The party then returned to the surface, and the Juniperberry farm, and thus ended the session.
