Academy of Healing Arts
Academy of Healing Arts in Quara is a hospital and school for lay healers. It was founded on the principle that everyone should receive medical treatment when they need it. It has mostly stuck to those principles, although lately some people complain that the wealthy always seem to get to the front of the line quicker than the neediest.
Purpose / Function
The Academy of Healing Arts is dedicated to training practitioners to help heal others. Whether that is from common injuries, battle wounds, or illness and disease, the teachers at the Academy work hard to treat all patients that arrive at their doors. Funded by some of the wealthy families in Quara, the Academy understands that healing is not just the province of the wealthy or patrons of the Church, but that all people of Quara deserve medical treatment when needed.
Alterations
Originally, just the main building was constructed as a hospital for the poor, but over time the need arose to train new Honorable Healer's Guild Members, so additional funds were raised and the teaching building was constructed. Built in the same drab style as the hospital building, the only sign of vanity, is a statue in the main foyer dedicated to Lord Dundorf, the largest donor to the construction of the building.
Architecture
The Academy was purposefully built as a hospital and teaching center. The main building houses the hospital and administrative offices, while a smaller building serves as the teaching center for the students. The building is practical, and almost drab in comparison to some of the other patron sponsored buildings in the capital. The founder of the Academy wanted all the money to go towards things that would make a difference for the sick and injured, and not waste money on lofty towers, or intricate stone carvings and artwork.
