The First Northern Hunt
The Omyhx Thicket, the forest of Ubos is perilous, his rotting canopies housing the deadliest creatures that roam the lands. Nowhere is more despised than the Omyhx Thicket. There is hardly any place on Kreworis that can compare to the horrors we have already seen on it's outskirts, let us pray for Jubix favor, should we reach the north.
Historical Basis
In 729 AR the renowned master marksmen Haladavar Aegwyn venturend into the Omyhx Thicket with a handpicked expedition party consisting of 250 execptionaly skilled nefadric soldiers, gifted students of Aegwyn, imperial sorcerers, hunters and scholars. This expedition was funded by the Nefadric Empire, among the goals it had set were carotographing Ubos, searching for caverns at the Black Rock Mountain Range as well as cataloging oddeties and strange pheomena of the Omyhx Thicket. The expedition was deemed failure when a patrol of Omyhx Hunters ran into the gruesome site where Haladavar and presumeably six others had made thier last stand against a horror of the Omyhx Thicket. Within the backpack of Haladavar a metal scaled paw with four talons, each the size of a large dagger, was found and hastily returend to Aodios. There is no other reliable information about the events durring the expedition since there were no survivors and neither logbooks nor even a single complete corpse could be retrived.

The tale of the first northern hunt is well known throughout the Nefadric Empire and has firmly cemented the Omyhx Thicket as one of the most dangerous places of the Nefadric Empire within the minds of it's citizens. This can be attributed to continious dangers the Omyhx Thicket presents even over a millennia later but also the spectacle the Omyhx Gauntlet has become and the cultural significance it holds. However beyond the borders of the empire it is barely known, in part because of the lacking understanding of the Omyhx Thicket and it's grave dangers, making it a fairly lacklustre story.
Variations & Mutation
After over a millennia of retelling the tale of the first northern hunt, despite nearly complete absence of reliable information and the misleading hunting focus of the Omyhx Gauntlet, it is often falsely belived that Haladavar Aegwyn had assembeld a hunting party to heroicly slay some horrible creature or creatures found in the Omyhx Thicket. The creature in question often varies as does the amount of slain creatures.
Cultural Reception
Within the Nefadric Empire the news that somebody had bested a creature from the dreaded northern Omyhx Thicket was so significant that it slowly has become tradition for the most brave soldiers of the realm to embark on a week long hunt within the most deadly parts of the Omyhx Thicket in an regular event called the Omyhx Gauntlet in order to prove themselfs, thier hunting prowess and unlike the legendary Haladavar Aegwyn, survive the ordeal. Though even suriviving the Omyhx Gauntlet is enough of a testament to ones abilites and ensures glory and fame - however brining a trophy of an especially dangerous creature is the ultimate goal for any contestant and required if one has aspirations of becoming an Omyhx Stalker.
