Silus, the Land of Immortality
A Land of Dedication
The Lands of Silus are one of dedication. Here, the Old Gods are still worshipped completely and unerringly. In fact, many of the inhabitants of Silus sneer and deride the Korinthians from behind their backs for their lack of dedication to their religious roots. It is an expectation in Silus that every elf dedicates at least ten years of their lives to the priesthood, serving as priests and priestesses in the temples dedicated to the Old Gods. Young Silliuns with a particular set of skills, namely in combat, subterfuge, or the sciences, are granted special permissions to pursue these endeavors on behalf of the Old Gods. These pursuits are still seen as godly if they are dedicated to the old gods. Skilled warriors become Sons of Horus, skilled assassins and spies become the Hands of Shu, and scientists and other scholars join the ranks of Thoth's Erudites. Every action during these ten years of service must be dedicated to the gods, every accomplishment accredited to them and their respective priesthoods.A History of Servitude
The lands of Silus have never been owned by Ravessus but were instead once enslaved by AhinRaj for many years. Silus, in fact, served the same purpose as Korinthos in keeping Northern powers out of Sothern lands. This enslavement lasted for nearly two hundred years and only ended because The Ahin lost in the The 50-Year War to Korinthos. The Silians served a crucial part in this war, acting as healers and diviners on behalf of the Ahin and also providing troops and spies for the war efforts. They never seemed entirely in the fight though, always retreating too early or surrendering. The Silians broke free of the Ahin shortly after their final defeat at the hands of Tiberios, Reborn God of Courage and Victory. The Silians even claimed, in the peace talks that followed, that they had tried to warn Korinthos about the Smiting of Thakuria. The Power of Freedom
With the power to determine their own fates the Silians have made great progress in recent years. With the discovery of imminence magic and a rumored previously undiscovered kind of Lumite, Silus has placed themselves on the world stage to be watched and traded with. Recently, they have been seen greeting many emissaries from Xi'anZhou and trading with them for high quality materials and other rare substances. Though Korinthos has expressed interest in alliances the Silians have denied all requests for unknown reasons. In their freedom, they've also discovered the secrets of immortality, seemingly granted to them by Thoth. The Silian high priesthood, and any who display similar dedication to the Old Gods, are granted a chance to obtain this same immortality, a boon from the Old Gods. In recent years, the Silian high priesthood have begun to selectively allow outsiders to participate in these rituals, obtaining immortality as well.Structure
