Damien Dreamblossom
Of course you have never heard of him, almost everyone who knows much more than his name is either dead or he turned them. Hell, the only reason he leaves us alone is because we aren't worth the trouble.Damien rules the Dreamblossom clan of vampires with the cunning of any vampire old enough to be called a Lord. That is to say, his plans often span centuries and have contingencies so numerous that he almost always comes out on top. He was around when Ishmael Tenebris was still active in the world, and is rumored to have been turned by Ishmael himself. Like all Lords, he can go out into the sun, though doing so diminishes his power.
Damien looked out over Narrow Cliffs, waiting for the sun to fully set and the seasonal mists to move in. It would soon be time to go out and spread a bit more chaos among the local populace. Not in a way that would lead anyone to think of vampires, or that could be traced back to The Graceful Blossom Trading Company. Still, where there was chaos, there were profits. Damien had no real love of riches, but the things that could be acquired or accomplished with some well-placed gold, well there was a war to fight after all. The Fae were even starting to take action in the material world. Nothing so overt as to draw the attention of most mortals, but they could make things inconvenient. Scratch that, they were making things more than inconvenient. Three caravans where holes mysteriously appeared in the specially constructed coffins that kept his clan safe during the day on overland travel, forcing the vampires to choose between a slow death in their coffin, hoping someone in the know would notice and cover the hole, or revealing themselves to the entire caravan, likely resulting in a quick if agonizing death as the coffin lid was flung open. Three more spawn were lost when a flash flood washed them away while they were crossing at the shallows of the Rattlesnake River. Though survivors reported that the coffins were intact, they never appeared downstream, meaning that someone likely sunk them. Even if the vampires emerged none of them were strong enough to withstand the swim to shore. Running water burned worse than sunlight. As twilight finally faded into true night and the mists settled over the city Damien rose to his feet. It was time to get to work. Rats and mealworms to distribute to some warehouses. Perhaps a spell or two to spoil some wines. He would hit his stores as well. He knew when his resupplies were coming and stood to make a tidy profit when those ships arrived. Plus, the fact that the goods in question had arrived just last night via The Twilight Trade would likely mean that Fae mischief would be blamed for anything that happened. Unable to prove otherwise, his competitors would lose face with both the local populace and the Fae as they spread lies about what had happened to their goods.
Perhaps more than any other clan, the Dreamblossom clan wields economy with the power of a blacksmith's hammer and the precision of a surgeon's scalpel. Knowing that the mind behind every decision has millennia of experience would make even the most sure negotiator second guess whether they had come out on top. As well they should. Did you just make a killing trading all your silver for an equivalent weight in gold? A good deal in most cases, it would be unfortunate if berserk lycanthropes were on their way towards your village. Of course, the survivors that make it to the next village speaking of the horror on its way will allow him to sell this newly acquired silver at a premium, allowing the lycanthropes to be killed, avenging the village (and allowing the Graceful Blossom to recover the original gold and make a profit selling supplies to those looking to re-settle the village. That is the level of planning that you can expect when interacting with Damien. If he is even meeting you he likely has done months or years of research. He may know more about you than you know about yourself. Your favorite food and drink, favorite scents, how you react to certain music, what you are likely to do in a crisis. Expect that he knows all of it. All of this is before you take into account that he is a proficient magic user and a skilled duelist with his magic daggers. On top of all that you then add the physical and mental powers of an ancient vampire Lord. Damien is not to be trifled with, being almost a force of nature on his own. Luckily he is somewhat preoccupied these days with the ongoing war with the Fae.
