In the Midsummer of 830, three enormous towers rose seemingly overnight. One was in Cambreath and made of gold. One arose on a new island in Lake Uirebael created from gleaming bronze and orichalcum. A third was erected in the Screaming Marshes of Prunyth made of bone and ivory. These are the Mages' Towers. The Gold Tower Mages studies magic itself. Dweomers, summoning beings of magic, divination, lay lines, enchantment and transmutation, anything that can help them get to the heart and advancement of thaumatology. The Brass Tower Mages study more practical magic. They produce war mages and arcane warriors, weaving magic, philosophy, and action into a holistic life of war and the preparation for war. The White Tower Mages study the lost history of ages past. Archaeologists, necromancers, conjurers of immortal beings, they stop at nothing to learn what has been forgotten. The College of Questions destroyed the Tower of Bone in 850, but the astral shadow was summoned into the world to replace it where it stood, half in this plane and half in the next. While officially still called the White Tower, folks also recognize it as the Tower of Souls.
