The Twins
(a.k.a. The Triplets)
Also known as "Black Eyed Children" or the Triplets for those in the know. They were the children on John Hathorne the 1st and his wife Ophelia.
Their names are Obedience to God, Purity of Soul, and Agony of Christ. They are usually called Obedience, Purity, and Agony for short. Legend has it that their father promised them to the Archangel Indriel to serve as soliders in God's army. However, many years later, John Hathorne killed Obedience, not knowing who/what it was. Since that day he was bound to give up one of his own flesh and blood to the Angel Indriel. He tried to give up Tommy Hathorne back in the 20's but it turns out Tommy was Old Lady Hathorne's child with a member of the Kingston family with whom she was having an affair, and not John's child.
There is some evidence that the Twins/Triplets are fey creatures who were corrupted and twisted by their father, John Hathorne the 1st and The Smiling Man. Does this mean that Ophelia Hathorne was a fey? It is unknown.
They are vulnerable to cold iron, and their true names can be used to control them for a short time. Their mouths are filled with some kind of black glistening oil, and their skin appears pallid and dead. However, they are able to project and image of adorable innocence that compels adults to protect them. Only children under the age of 18, and VERY strong willed adults can see through their wicked glamers. They can unleash powerful bursts of radiation, capable of burning or killing a person. Those that survive often suffer long term health problems.

Morality? What's that? The Twins/Triplets are obedient to the will of The Smiling Man and to a lesser extent, John Hathorne. They do not hesitate to kill their enemies and the innocent alike. They also take pleasure in torturing small animals. Among humans, they have a particular hatred for witches, who they will threaten to burn from the inside.
