Communications

There are countless options to stay in touch with your friends—and to be informed about your foe’s whereabouts—but most of them rely on the same “Frequency Engine” as they call it.
The standard FE is a small mechanism that uses a combination of processors, a radio receiver component and two radio transmitters, to make possible the transmission and reception of messages in the form of radio waves. As such, they are the heart of all kinds of personal SRDs and the majority of communication tools.
There are other alternatives, some of them with wider range or lower prices, but the FE is the right tool for most communication tasks, and people in the First World of Grista love standards almost as much as they hate rare abilities.
They like innovation, of course, but they will do that based on the already proven technologies whenever that is possible, and when they develop something out of the norm, they install an FE as backup in every communication tool that uses the new core.
