The Conflict

Prelude

The peace negotiations between Nemthi and Scorzosa were prone to result in a truce or even peace, after the Blitzkrieg of Etherium wiped out two-third of the Triumvirate of Power resulting in a major blow in the morals of Nemthi's troops.
Knowing that queen Aléssla Goship of Scorzosa could show weakness allowing Nemthi to mourn the dead accordingly, the aristocracy of the country saw themselves forced to push the planned coup forward into the negotiation night.
Benefitting from the ongoing war, none of the aristocrats desired to prematurely stop the ongoing war with the Lizardfolks, and so they decided to act.

"We can't allow our country to show weakness. We have to push forward our war efforts and bulldoze over the filth calling themselves Nemths.
We have to finish what Etherium started and annex the country in one quick swoop.
Beat them while they are down.
But the Goship's are soft, they will give in to a truce setting us back years. Ladies? Gentleman!
The Goship's have to vanish, now!"

Using the upcoming birthday of queen Goship to gain entrance into the grey palace the aristocrats quickly disposed of the queens guardsmen replacing them with their own. Then they waited for the queens return and her family to finish preparing dinner.
When the Queen and her protector Luthca Sivanál arrived hours later, they got led into an open trap.
Her family got already trapped in the dining room unable to escape the aristocrat's wrath.
When the queen got expected to join her family the room was already inflamed by impatient executioners.
The queen and her protector noticed the screams of the Goship's and attempted to escape the coup d'etat but got consumed by the flames of revolution just like the rest of her family.

The whole royal family died in that night.

"We attempted everything to make a truce between Scorzosa and Nemthi possible.
But these cowardly cold-blooded beasts did something unforgivable. This night Nemthi succeded in an assassination attempt on our beloved queen Goship and her family.
The grey palace is now a smouldering ruin and the Goship's all burned in the firey prison.
On top of that Nemthi insulted us even further, taking the scorched corpse of our Queen as a trophy.
We desire revenge, we want retribution!
No truce for the dishonourable!"

Aftermath

A 90 years war that was meant to end in that decade found a new beginning. The Night Elves of Scorzosa threw accusations about the death of their queen against the rebuilt Triumvirate, not ready to attend any peace treaties until the corpse of Aléssla Goship got returned.
Nemthi denying any involvement in what got known as the 'red Slaughter' only fed the anger of the elves to finally crush Nemthi whole.

A war that was meant to continue until one side will fall and get turned into ash and rubble.
