The forgotten city

Deep below the frozen wastes that are the unhabitable lands of Sepernius was said to reside a city devoured by the cogs of time...and tons of ice and snow.
A nameless city that is said to have already existed for a long time before the world became ash 5000 years ago.
Relics telling stories nobody but the gods could know about. Architecture so alien and wonderous it takes away your breath.
Technologies that got lost in the catastrophe and haven't been rediscovered to this very day.

...

I am one of the few living beings who got the chance to actually set foot in that mythical city.
But I was already in a delusive state having lost all my comrades and all our equipment to a giant Ice-Wyrm.
I can't assure you that what I saw can be taken for granted, heck I don't even know how I managed to get back from my expedition.
Maybe...I wasn't so alone down there as I thought I would be?

Geography

The forgotten city is said to be located deep in the ocean under the frozen south-pole of Prius: Sepernius.
Due to how dangerous this vile continent is to any living being not many had attempted to undergo an expedition to find the mythical place. The unusually magnetic atmosphere rendered any way to beat nature with cold-hearted machinery impossible and surviving on foot highly improbable.
Only a handful were able to survive such suicide-level expeditions and none of them but Dross Hegraven were able to even find a crack in the ice to venture underground.
But despite its existence getting confirmed by Sir Hegraven, the forgotten city still remains a myth, as its discoverer was not willing to tell the press how he possibly could have made it back to Etherium.
"Enlightened Watcher Dross Hegraven might have been able to locate an entrance to the city and even explored parts of the mythical place as we were able to read in his journals.
He even provided the church with detailed plans on how to reach that gap in the ice.
But as he denies us any intel on how he rejoined us being the only survivor of an event that took place before him finding the city, we, the Silent Watchers, withhold the title of discoverer of the nameless city until further expeditions retraced his steps confirming the value of the last pages of his journal.
As Sir Hegraven remains now under us as a 'Sudo-Eternal' and is therefore now ageless, we will grant him the title and all rights to dub his discovery after everything got fact-checked.

Thank you."

  Day 701:
I managed to escape the wyrm by jumping in the creak Minaera spotted.
Seems like I was the only one lucky enough to make the run or survived the fall.
Neither alive nor deceased comrades were now down with me in the darkness 100 meters below the surface.
Was extremely lucky to survive the fall.

Day 701 (cont.):
I can't believe my eyes.
We...I found the forgotten city!
The cave I landed in turned out to be part of a myth buried for millennia.
This alien place looks like a city made for giants. I was now walking for hours through enormous empty halls made out of unknown glowing materials.
I was unable to read any of the writings on the wall but was able to get a few traces for later studies.

Status: No food, no water; no hope.
I will make the best out of reaching my goal.

Day 702:
Status: Famishing...cold...thirsty. Might not survive this day...or night.
Found a gigantic room, which looked like an assembly hall. In its center, handing from the ceiling bund by thousand tendrils a giant [redacted].
A gorgeous piece of miraculous beauty. Shimmering in the colours of the rainbow.
Desire to unlock the secrets of the [redacted], which is even down here out of place.
Missing strength to sketch, eyes glassy.

Tired.

Minaera, wait for me, I will soon join.

Great story :D I love the mystery of buried cities and all the possible danger lurking around... Lucky for Hegraven that he is immortal and can wait for more expeditions to confirm the discovery :p Are they planning on sending a big one soon? With all the publicity of the event, they should be able to get fund and volunteer...

Good question. Lemme check my timeline ^^' Uhm...so the Expedition of Dross got concluded in the year 4986 (His expedition was so massive and vast that he left Scamall for 20 years (but that particular diary covers only the time he finally felt prepared and laid his eyes on Sepernius (That's why only 701 days))). He saw this expedition as his life journey and Sepernius was only the culmination of his expedition to the south pole by traditional means.   As he was quite special in his preparation I would say in the 12 years since the expedition concluded Terminus at least set up an expedition on the board searching for experienced volunteers. But due to their special relationship, I am positive he would like to have Dross take part as an advisor (not leader).   And as his expedition with Raja to Squa'osa (The future plot of my planned Novel) will turn out to be a long one as well, I think if, then Dross and Raja have just returned to Scamall in 4998.

Also even further (and this is private information).   Sancre Prio is a city Terminus is quite familiar with. I mean he got 'born' when the lair of the gods was still orbiting the planet and *maybe* was partly responsible with his siblings for it crashing down in the ocean.   As he trusts Dross, who he sees as a brother after the Events of 'A piece of heaven', he kinda wants him to take control over the discoveries made to not accidentally leak anything that could risk the plan Dross is at that time already part of. So a failsafe.   (Don't ask me why he initially blessed the first expedition. Maybe his trust in the young Dross was not that great at that time?)
