The Sweetwater Valley

[quote]Most folks from the Sweetwater Valley don't understand how good they've got it. Like the rest of Grenesse, the bulwark of the North Marches and Norianne stands between them and the cold and song. They're friendly enough, but they're soft, caught up in ancient tales of valor and glory. If I had a jade piece for every Valley farmboy who shows up with half a rusted sword and delusions of being the next Loken, I could raise an expedition into the Marches the likes of which the world has never seen.[quote|Gregory o Fogladh, Krel Mercenary Captain]

Geography

Sweetwater Valley is a valley located in eastern Grenesse. The region features three settlements, Goodberry, Meadstown, and Summer. As the name implies, the region is particularly famed for its Sweetwater River, which is unique among the kingdoms. The Sweetwater Spring at Summer produces an abnormally high amount of enchanted water, which flows through Meadstown and into Lake Thorne in Goodberry. This is not the only unique feature of the Sweetwater River, as it has also been recorded to shimmer with a golden light during the summer solstice, all the way up and down the river. Many flock to the Valley each year to experience this phenomenon and sample the sweetwater, and every village along the river holds a different festival to celebrate the occasion.

Fauna & Flora

Sweetwater Valley contains several species of wildlife and flora that appear nowhere else in the Kingdoms.   Summerking Butterflies: This species of butterfly feature bright green wings, with the far rarer males of the species having a few speckles of gold on their wings. They are excellent pollinators and tend to collect on the various trees growing down the Sweetwater River. Due to their rarity, and to ensure the continued propagation of the species as a whole, collection of male specimens by lepidopterists is banned.   Sweetwater Lily: A cousin of Warmweed, Sweetwater Lilies produce a less intense and long-lasting high and cannot be dried and smoked like Warmweed. The bright blue and white flower grows along the muddy banks of the Sweetwater River, and are customarily used as a method of marriage proposal by the youths of the region. The lily is cultivated in Meadstown, as its pollen and nectar create a special honey that, when processed into mead is an extraordinarily valuable beverage known to produce a weaker version of the effects of Warmwead, including the protection from the Siren's Song.   Sweetwater Trout: Sweetwater trout provide the bulk of the protein in the Valley, and are primarily fished in Lake Thorne in Goodberry. From the outset, the fish is hard to distinguish from a regular trout save for their larger than average size and the occasional flecks of golden coloration in their scales.
