Mzansi

Mzansi is a nation in Southern Africa consisting of most of the southern regions of the former Dutch African Colonial Empire, bordering Cape Republic, Botswana, Basutoland, Zululand, as well as the colonial empires of Germany, Portugal, and the Anglo-Irish Empire.

History

The regions that would become Mzansi were first established following the defeat of Napoleon and the securing of the Kingdom of Holland under the reign of Louis Bonaparte. Though the Dutch would fail to secure the prized Cape Colony from Great Britain, Holland began to secure their holdings in the regions to the north.

During the reign of King Louis II, the enamoration of the Dutch court with the teachings of Karl Marx saw the implementations with some of his ideas into the colony as a social experiment in 1847. Though the reduction in slave labor and the cordial efforts with the native kingdoms caused tensions with the white settlers known as the Boers, ultimately the efforts saw more cordial relations with the workers. However, those with anti-monarchical ideas began to feel emboldened with the implementations and teachings of Marx, as colonial rule would become challenged in the coming decades.

With the discovery of diamonds in the southern regions of the Dutch Colonial African Empire in 1867, the settlers of Great Britain attempted to encroach on many of the lands claimed by the Dutch. The Dutch colonists took up arms, and the tensions eventually led to the South African War. Holland came out victorious in 1881, and Great Britain was forced officially recognize Dutch rule in 1885 at the Berlin Conference.

It was during the Great War that Mzani would be able to secure their independence. Though Holland became among the victorious powers, the Dutch court was overthrown in favor of a communist government. Holland would eventually join the Soviet Union. Many in the colonial government attempted to take control of the entire region, including the conquered states of the Cape Colony. However, the nationalists declared independence, though retracted many of the social policies of the kingdom in favor of right-wing governing that Europe had brought upon in the wake of the Soviet Union. This caused much upheaval, and Mzani received a great socialist rebellion in the capital.

Many socialist ideologues came to take control of the government and military, promising to remove the remnants of European colonialism. The People's Republic of Mzani was established in 1922.
