A rare intellectual prodigy, Areta Shima was born in Sichovan part of Muscovia.
As Muscovia collapsed and Sich regained its independence, Areta, unlike many of her sergal compatriots, found her calling in the precision and beauty of computer code.
During the first round of modernization for the Hospitable Sea Fleet, Areta participated in automating the Vortex-class missile boats and developing one of the first integral battle management systems for this kind of a fleet.
Later on, as she and Kairee Silar were sent to UAP for experience exchange, she was able to get a security clearance for getting contracted by SDI, where she was able to put her skills to mettle once again by producing something never created before - an integral battle management system for dealing with supernatural on a large scale.
PERSONALITY
Far as personality goes, Areta's a little bit of loner, trading trademark sergal hot-bloodedness and eagerness for quiet introspection and intellectual pursuits. And, curiously enough, Kairee seems to respect it deeply, claiming that Areta's developments help Silar to bring the glaive of justice to those in dire need of it swifter.
Although that's not to say that this is all there's to Areta. From what was seen at times, she's not above pranking her coworkers by bringing horrifyingly-shaped food into breakroom, when on a coffee break (usually cakes, but sometimes a genuine northern sergal food - suspected to be repayments from Kairee).
In addition to that, Shima's not above magical experimentation either. Aside from figuring out how to augment radiosignal to be able to penetrate Time Stalls and Anomalous Storms, Areta had also provided herself with additional arms (around the time of vacation to Coalwell) and some minor adjustments for easier time working in SDI's Geoscape control room without tiring out too fast.
