Silimani Paddler

The Silimani Paddler is a mostly oar-propulsed vessel that was originally built by the Green Dragon Guard in Nossed. It is equipped with a mast for sailing, which can be lowered for combat. The Silimani Paddler was developed to counteract the maritime dominance of the Labarean Empire and is a sea-worthy class of ship, albeit with little cargo capacity. The class is testament to the exceptional understanding that wood elves have of tree properties, as the durability and versatility of this type of ship is mostly determined by the exact combination of pine and fir wood.
After the Invasion of Silimanis, most Silimani Paddlers were destroyed or claimed by the Labarean Empire, but some made it in the hands of pirates. The Qosidian commune Yhaoltum has constructed two Silimani Paddlers which are used to secure Lake Olt.
Silimani Paddlers were developed for defensive purposes and need to stay close to the coast and to harbors.

Weapons & Armament

The Silimani Paddler can be equipped with up to four light mounted weapons, such as light ballistas or mangonels. The durability of the ship also allows it to carry a heavy mounted weapon. The Labarean Empire has equipped some its Silimani Paddlers with cannons.

Armor and defense

There is often no additional plating on Silimani Paddlers, as the craftsmanship of the wood elves has rendered them very tough to begin with. Still, there have been experiments with metal plating to add extra armor to the ship -- at the cost of speed and maneuverability.
