Helga Stoneforge
Born the second child of the Khazdural Clan, Helga Stoneforge (née Khazdural) grew up in the halls of Karak Dûr with the same fire and resolve as her elder brother, Hrothgar. Unlike him, however, her ambitions did not lie in battle or reclaiming lost glories. Instead, she found her calling in the forge, where she proved herself a master of metalcraft and rune-etching, talents that would later define her legacy. Even as Karak Dûr prospered, she knew that a clan’s strength was measured not just in the warriors it produced, but in the tools and arms it wielded. Though she trained in combat as all dwarves did, her true love was the hammer and the anvil, shaping raw ore into things of worth.
Following the fall of Karak Dûr in 17 AV, Helga, like many of her surviving kin, fled eastward to Stormhold. It was there that she married into the Stoneforge Clan, an old and well-regarded line of smiths and enchanters, known for their mastery of binding elemental forces into steel. Taking up residence in the lower forges of Stormhold, she became a respected craftsmaster, etching the old techniques of Karak Dûr into her work so that her fallen home would never truly be forgotten. Though she carries the name Stoneforge, she has never severed ties with her birth clan, ensuring that any Khazdural dwarf who comes to her forge leaves with steel in hand and a purpose in heart.
Though age has begun to slow her hammer strokes, Helga remains a formidable presence, her broad frame still powerful despite the years. Her red-gold hair is streaked with silver, bound into tight braids that she wears woven with iron bands marked with Khazdural and Stoneforge runes alike. Unlike her brother Hrothgar, who still dreams of reclaiming their homeland, Helga believes the future of their people lies in what they build now, not what was lost. Even so, should the day come when the call to retake Karak Dûr rings through the mountains, she will be there—not with a war axe, but with the finest weapons her forge can produce, so that those who fight for their ancestors do not do so empty-handed.
