Old Barovich

"In the forest west of Slvok, there is a ruined path, covered by dry earth and broken branches. The path twists and turns through brooks long dried and trees long dead. At the end of this path lies a forsaken village, Homes boarded by rough timbers, it's market lonely and its temple decayed unbefitting for a proud house of Muriel. This is the old village of Barovich the way station for any visiting the Tower of Karazhan."
— Borrillius Briggs, Journal

History

This small village sprouted as a result of the Old master of Karazhan needing a small populace to help stock his tower with goods for lavish feasts and the occasional labourer, its purpose served his strange whims. The townspeople once traded dried meats and vegetables with Slvok keeping the village fed so their mining operation could continue unimpeded and return they received trade goods from the caravans that passed through.   By the Year 237 p.d. the tower of Karazhan was left deserted by Medivh and the village abandoned after the Dragon Strahd bound to the tower scared the villagers away. Since this time undead beings have infested the village, with the largest of these abominations standing guard butchering any who would stumble upon this forsaken place.
