Kalithan Camp
"On my travels there have been few places that I dare not tread. However, there was a camp in the hills of Barovich that the locals did not speak of lightly, they told tales of screams on the wind where acts so horrific so evil that the lady of life herself has turned her gaze and nought but pain and sorrow walk. Ugul galan Walgulush."
Purpose / Function
This was the camp of one of the Druid Clans; the Kalithan. Named after The Arch Druid of the same name this clan was known for roaming around the western coast of Kelkanor having strong ties to the forest of Barovich where their Keepers have kept the secret that the patron of their clan the Arch Druid Kalithan was laid to rest somewhere in the woods. The Camp was made in the hills where they could see any would-be attacker approach.
Architecture
The camp is made of small huts and strange caravan like structures with sails attached as if they were meant for flying once. The huts have faded many burnt down but those that stand still have the detailing of symbols stained red.
History
This ruins history is short and bloodied. Once the home of the Ancient Druid Clan of the Kalithan now it is a graveyard, the site of their massacre at the hands of men who were tricked by the foul and now Lord of this very forest; Strahd von Barovich. The camp was a familiar stopping point for the clan as they migrated from the borders of the elven realm southwards towards the mountain kingdom of Highbridge. Here in the forests of Barovich, the clan would pay homage to the Fey Noble, The Lord of the Hunt allowing the forests to be plentiful with game so that those who call the forest home can live and survive within its borders.
Over one hundred years ago the clan made its last encampment in the low hills, where they were deceived by Strahd. Strahd had unbeknownst to the clan, hidden a book, a book of great darkness within the camp. He manipulated the previous lord of the forest into attacking the clan, thinking that this book contained the secrets of creating pure gold within its pages. The lord's men spurred on by the books hidden darkness performed acts so dark, so evil that the camp has been stained ever since with the memory of the clan, who screams pierce the ever nights sky to this day.
