History
Vizada was an ambitious, feisty young Council Member, ready to take on and/or save the world, when she met Crown Prince Xeres. She enjoyed verbal sparring with him when they crossed paths in the hallways of the capitol, until one of their spirited debates triggered Xeres' weak lungs into an attack. The severity of his condition was not public, so she was shocked to see a doctor show up out of nowhere with oxygen to tend to the ailing prince. She apologized profusely, but he graciously assured her it wasn't her fault, and attacks had been triggered by less. That's when she began to see him as a person and not a politician, and their relationship only deepened from there.
History
Xeres loved his eldest child with all his heart from the first time he felt her move inside his wife's belly, until the last day of his life. He adored his other two children, as well, but it was no secret that Vazali was his favorite. As she grew into an intelligent and kind person, his opinion of her only improved. They had many long, involved conversations throughout Vazali's childhood, as he encouraged her to exercise her mind and critical thinking skills. As her teen years flew by, their discussions were the perfect way for him to assess her suitability to rule. Xeres was incredibly proud of how graciously and naturally she grew into the role of crown princess, and was confident she would make a fine empress someday. Unfortunately, that day came much sooner than anyone has guessed it would...
Nicknames & Petnames
Sometimes, especially when she was very young or he was feeling sentimental, Xeres would call his firstborn "Zolly."
History
During childhood, Xeebec got along with his father just fine, although he was always closer to his mother due to Xeres' demanding schedule. All that changed when Xeres announced Vazali was to be his successor. After that Xeebec wanted nothing to do with his father, and despite Xeres' attempts to reconcile, they remained estranged until the Emperor's death.
History
Xeebon was always overprotective of Xeres, which is understandable considering the circumstances of Xeres' birth and subsequent health problems. Fortunately, Xeres was even-tempered and respectful of his father's feelings, and his youthful rebellion mainly consisted of hanging around the capitol, observing and getting to know the Council members, instead of staying at the palace all the time.
History
Ontaz badly misjudged Xeres at first, assuming the physically frail crown prince would be a weak leader. He quickly learned otherwise after Xeres's ascention to the throne, and grew to grudgingly respect the young emperor. His opinion further softened through the years, and after Xeres' death Ontaz even called him "a great man" when offering condolences to Empress Vazali. Xeres sympathized with the Vincarans' desire for independence up to a point, but he could never forget that his father, Xeebon, had most likely been assassinated on Ontaz's orders. Xeres treated Ontaz with the respect due to a fellow national leader while negotiating the Treaty of Jantrala, but kept personal conversations to a minimum. A private phone line connected their offices after the Great Civil War in hopes of diffusing future conflicts. It was rarely used, but carried some tense conversations during the Waznat Crisis and the standoff at Erdiza.
