Veodia Organization in Kalin | World Anvil

Veodia

Veodia is a small kingdom in the far Eastern reaches of Kalin. Existing in the Jahar-Ki-Ba’ir (Land of Tall Islands) the region is mostly made up of islands in a rough sea. These islands are mostly rock with small flat islands that allow farming only occasionally. Veodians get their needed goods mostly from trade with the western nations and fishing.   The islands are dotted with the towns of Veodia, though the nation lacks many cities. The capital of Pia-Al winds up one of the taller islands in the region and is ruled by the Shah, a hereditary position handed down through the generations.   Veodians are a close-knit and spiritual people, and are well known for their skill with the elemental magics, especially over air and water.

Demography and Population

Veodia is mostly made up of small populations and villages, sometimes numbering in the dozens on some islands. These communities are mostly self reliant and extremely spiritual. The entire population of Veodia is probably smaller than some of the smallest Fallen Cities.

Territories

Veodian territory is made up of the Jahar-Ki-Ba'ir, or Land of Tall Islands. These column like rock islands extend hundreds of feet into the air, and have Veodian towns and villages on top and on the sides of them. It's rather harsh conditions, with strong winds and seas causing most to find it uncomfortable living. But to Veodian's its home.

Military

Veodia doesn't have an official military. Instead individual towns and villages usually protect themselves with home grown militias in times of crisis. Instead Veodia will come together if threatened with a mixture of local terrain knowledge and their world-renowned mastery of the elements, especially wind and water.

Technological Level

Veodia benefits from neighboring Virnos on some matters, specifically airships. But in general Veodia is not very advanced technologically, nor do they really have a desire to be.

Religion

Veodian's mostly worship the elements, and seek balance and peace with nature. While some worship The Mantle most instead revere the elements and practice a more inwards facing form of Spiritualism.

Foreign Relations

Veodia mostly has direct contact with Virnos who has not conquered Veodia due to lack of natural resources and the high price of taking such small islands for little reward. As such Virnosian airships dock in Veodian ports often and the nations share a neutrally friendly relationship.

Agriculture & Industry

Veodia doesn't produce large amounts of anything, though its silks and fabrics are well known for their quality. Mostly Veodia gets by on trade with the outside world via airship, and the limited farming and not so limited fishing it does.

Education

Veodia doesn't have much of an official education, instead usually individual families and communities will pass on what knowledge they have to those who grow up.

Infrastructure

Veodia doesn't have much in the way of official infrastructure due to its unique geography. Though individual towns and ports are usually well maintained.
