Lyath'Or Organization in Kalin | World Anvil

Lyath'Or

City of the Drow (Or Dark Elves as they are commonly known) Lyath’Or is a cold place, and inhospitable to many. Once the Immortal City of Helbrech the city was razed by the Tyrant Corlin in the first age. The city was rebuilt by the persistent Drow led by their queen, Xune . They were aided by the fine construction work of the Dwarves, and are one of the few groups who have been capable of creating good relations with the isolationist mountain folk.   The city itself is mostly Drow, and few outsiders live in the city. A fair few trade in the city however as Lyath’Or is known for its fine blacksmithing work with the mixing of Dwarvish and Elvish skill.   The city is ruled by a Queen, Xune. As an eternal elf she has led her people ever since the fall of Helbrech in the last age.

Demography and Population

Lyath'Or controls the cold regions around its mountainous capital. Most towns and cities are left to their own, as long as they hold by Xunes primary laws.   Racially Lyath'Or is mostly Drow. Though there are Dwarves and Duregar as well.

Territories

Lyath'Or controls most of the land around it, which is mostly Drow. Due to the harsh cold it's sparsely populated.

Military

The Drow can be fierce warriors when called. The Dark Guard are the mainline Drow military, made up of various specialties. While the Dark Guard perform most patrol and combat duties the Drow are also hit and run experts, being very dangerous in guerilla warfare.

Technological Level

The Drow have no advanced much since the first age, and fire-arms and technology are rare in Lyath'Or. Even airships have trouble with the harsh winters.

Religion

The Drow mostly worship The Mantle. Though many revere Xune as near divine.

Foreign Relations

Lyath'Or has good relations with the nearby Dwarves, a rarity among most races but especially Elves. The Dwarves and Drow get along rather famously actually due to their shared history. Even the Duregar are accepted.   To the Human dominated Fallen Cities however, Lyath'Or has a general sense of disdain. Nothing aggressive, and Lyath'Or trades peacefully with its neighbors, but the Drow do not hold humans in high regard.   This attitude has changed somewhat in the last few decades as the city has opened up more formal relations with their southern cousins of the Torva'Ne and the human dominated Atresa as well as its protectorates. Though to mistake this for openness to the other races would be a grave mistake.

Agriculture & Industry

Lyath'Or is known for its abundance of rare metals and expert smiths.

Trade & Transport

Lyath'Or mostly trades for its food with their southern cousins and their western neighbors. In exchange they trade out their refined minerals, which they have easy access to. Roads are rough in the winter, but well patrolled by the Dark Guard.

Education

Xune has commanded that all Drow citizens be educated to a certain proficiency in writing, reading, arithmetic, and magical awareness. However non-Drow are not able to access this system, and advanced education is not available unless you can pay for it.
