Wild Hunt

Night... the black... the darkness. Upon the highest hour of the dark when the moon is highest in the night sky... this is the hour of the Wild Hunt.

Summary

The Wild Hunt is not a single myth: rather, it's a culture motif, common to several cultures of northern Kadagard. While details and especially the leader of the Hunt vary, the general concept is universal across these cultures remains the same; that being a ghostly precession of spirits that rides through the night sky.

Spread

Belief in the Hunt is spread all throughout the most northern reaches of Kadagard. Its tale stretches from the eastern coast of Hadorstadir to the western peaks that isolate Kiaglatch, and is heralded by everyone in-between.

Cultural Reception

All the people who dwell north of the Allfire Peaks fear the Wild Hunt.

In Literature

While actual accounts and depictions are rare, allusions and evocations of the Hunt are abound in what literature exists among the northern cultures. The only major written account of just the Hunt is the Night of the Wild Hunt poem written in 289 c.p.

In Art

No artistic depictions of the Wild Hunt exist, or at least none of have survived. Fear of the Hunt, in the eastern-most areas of its influence, has discouraged anyone from creating any images of it, as it is possible that the Hunt could use said image as a beacon, or even a portal, to come for them.
Date of First Recording
While the first written story depictions of it date back to 289 c.p., rune stones evoking the Hunt have existed as far back as 19 o.p. In fact, there is evidence that the myth may be even older.
