It was he who, at the Council of Mount Kell, signed treaties of peace with the lands of the south, accepting the title of Count and swearing to end raiding by Genlith forces on those southern lands.
It was also he who, almost immediately afterward, declared war on Raendor which lasted just over a decade and was ended only at the dawn of the Troll Rise. He committed the men of his land to an accord with men of other lands until the threat of the Trolls was ended. He endured fifteen years of his son Haltios the Untamed raging against the treaty of Mt Kell but kept him in check. When Pedeston died at the age of 74, Haltios was the first to inherit the title of Count (instead of Chieftain).
