Ourock

Basic Information

Anatomy

A well built, strong four legged domesticated creature. The head has side facing eyes like the Riba and Tagam to spot predators. It has a thin tail with long hairs near the tip used for swatting irksome flies.

Genetics and Reproduction

The herds cows will go into heat during the spring season, the bulls will fight amongst themselves for mating rights. An ourock is pregnant for about 4 months before giving birth to one, to two calves. It's quite rare to get more than one offspring per pregnancy but it's been known to happen. The cycle of birth is often times well timed so that the cows have plenty of food to produce milk for a strong new generation.

Growth Rate & Stages

The calf is born quite well developed and can stand and walk within a few minutes, but it is very dependant on its mothers and the herds protection. Especially the first few months. At one year old a calf is independant from its mother's milk and she is ready to bear a new calf.

Ecology and Habitats

The Ourock likes to live in big herds in open grasslands in the warm months and moves to forests in the cold months. Their feces is a great fertilizers and they are widely regarded as a seed disperser for wildflowers and fruits (and berries).

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Ourock is a strict vegetarian and will in the wild travel long stretches of land to feed the entire herd. It mainly grazes on wild grassland. In captivity it's a grateful beast to keep as it is not picky, and can even subside for some time on branches.
